The Purpose of Life

The most important questions

At some point, we have all wondered why we exist. Is there a purpose behind it all? Is this life just chance, or is there a greater plan?

We believe life has a deep and beautiful purpose. God, our Heavenly Father, has a plan for each of His children — a plan of happiness.

The Plan of Salvation

Before we were born, we lived with God as His spirit children. He loved us and wanted us to grow, learn and become like Him. For that, He created a plan:

• Premortal life: We lived with God before we were born. There we chose to come to earth to obtain a body and learn from our own experience.
• Earth life: This life is a school. Here we learn to tell good from evil, to love, to serve and to develop faith.
• Life after death: Death is not the end. Thanks to Jesus Christ, we will all be resurrected and be able to live with God again.

Why does suffering exist?

One of the hardest questions is why we suffer. If God loves us, why does He allow pain? We believe difficulties are an essential part of our growth. Just as a child needs to fall in order to learn to walk, we need to face challenges in order to grow spiritually.

But we are not alone. Jesus Christ experienced all of our pain so that He could comfort and help us. He understands perfectly what you feel.

Your worth is infinite

You are not an accident. You are a son or daughter of God, with divine potential. Your life has a specific purpose, and God knows you personally — your dreams, your fears, your hopes.
